FDR is a specialised mediation process designed specifically to support families facing separation issues.
The process is flexible, less stressful, and cheaper than litigation. It also satisfies all of the requirements of the Family Law Act 1975. The Act requires separating parents, who have a dispute about parenting arrangements, to discuss issues, look at options and work out how to reach an agreement without going to the Family Court or using legal representation. The process of mediation also reduces the cost involved.
WA Fairhaven provides families the opportunity to reach an agreement in the best interest of the children in both parenting and property matters.
The process guided by a caring, neutral, accredited, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
The Centre is culturally sensitive, providing interpreters and creates a service that embraces cultural differences’ in working with families experiencing difficulties and challenges after family separation.
The service is open to parents, grandparents, children, step-families and any other extended family members. Our professional staff will stand alongside each, respecting their individuality, uniqueness, actively listening to their experience in a non-judgemental way.
